The Director of IDD Nursing is responsible for the management, supervision and coordination of nursing services for people who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Director of IDD Nursing is responsible for determining nursing service requirements and providing for the care and treatment of consumers with IDD. The Director of Nursing is responsible for the supervision of RNs, LVNs and clerks assigned to the Department. The Director of Nursing ensures that nursing services are delivered in compliance with the principles/standards of HCS, TxHmL, Texas Board of Nurse Examiners rules and regulations, local, state and federal statutes/laws applicable to service delivery. Completion of work requires originating new techniques, establishing criteria, or developing new information of complex nature. Decisions are complex and often made with few guidelines available. The Director of Nursing works under the general direction of the Director of Developmental Health. Qualifications: Licensed through the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners (TXBNE) as a Registered Nurse (RN), plus two years of work experience as an RN in a recognized health agency, hospital, or health care facility. Or, bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited program, plus one year of work experience as an RN in a recognized health agency, hospital, or health care facility. Or, a master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program. Driver’s license required. Preferred qualifications: Ability to prepare and maintain records; to organize, coordinate, and evaluate nursing activities and to interpret policies and procedures. Responsible for the direct supervision of front desk and data entry staff in the Amarillo outpatient Behavioral Health clinics for Adults and Children. Oversees the front desk operations at both clinics to ensure appointments are scheduled, data is entered, Clients are being seen, authorizations are in place and support services are delivered to ensure provider services are in compliance with all payer requirements. Ensures that customer service is delivered in a professional and courteous manner. Works as a member of the management team at the clinics.
