Texas Panhandle MHMR juvenile diversion programs are designed to be family-based, multi-service approaches that meet the mental health needs of juveniles that are involved with the criminal justice system. TPMHMR has a juvenile TCOOMMI program which collaborates directly with Randall County Juvenile Probation, and also have designated TPMHMR staff that work specifically with Potter County Juvenile Probation.
Services are focused on youth involved with the Texas juvenile justice system, ages 10-17, who have been identified as having severe emotional disturbances. Texas Panhandle MHMR programs provide a wrap-around case management philosophy and flexible programming.
Service components include:
- Assessments for service referral
- Service coordination and planning
- Medication and monitoring
- Individual and/or group therapy and skills training
- In-home services such as Functional Family Therapy
- Family focused support services
- Benefit eligibility services
- Transitional services
Wrap Around Services for TYC Youths on Parole
TPMHMR services are also provided to TYC juveniles, including a Continuity of Care system. Services are targeted at youth released on parole who have a serious mental illness that requires post release treatment. Texas Panhandle MHMR provides:
- Individualized assessments
- Service coordination
- Medication monitoring
- Advocacy services
- Transitional services to other treatment programs
- Benefit eligibility
For children and adolescents in the Texas Panhandle MHMR service area who are not on adjudicated probation, but are at risk of becoming delinquent, the STAR Program is a valuable resource.
